If God already knows the future, if he knows who is going to succeed and who is going to fail – who the sinners and the saints will be, than why put us through this crazy life? Why not just assign us to heaven or hell right now?

The dean of the best dental college lived next door to a family with a little boy. The little boy was very smart and quite capable and decided he wanted to be dentist when he grew up. The dean watched this boy closely over the years and noticed that he was not a quitter and that he succeeded at whatever he put his mind to. In school he got very good grades and picked up new things quickly. He graduated from high school with honors and still had that same desire to be a dentist.

Now the dean had no doubt that this neighbor of his would excel in all of the dental classes and when it came time he would ace the tests and go on to be a fine dentist. There was absolutely no doubt. So when he received the boy’s application to his college, instead of admitting him, he simply had a diploma made up and graduated him from dental school on the spot.

The boy was shocked and asked why he did that. The dean explained that there was no need to put him through all of those courses and give him all of that experience when they both new that in the end he was going to pass.

Now, I ask you, would you want this boy to be your dentist?

The point of my story is that even if God knows the ending, he cannot wave a magic wand and give us all of the experience and knowledge that we can get in this life. He created this life, because it was the best way to get us to our goals. Yes, he is all powerful, but he also has all wisdom.
