Texas Sheet Cake
Jan 31st, 2011 | By Sharee Anne | Category: Lead Article, Recipes
This is a delicious cake that my grandmother always seemed to have sitting on the dessert table at Thanksgiving and Christmas. I have found it to be a great cake to feed a crowd and very inexpensive to make.
Texas Sheet Cake
1 c. butter, melted
1 c. water (hot)
3 Tbsp. cocoa
2 Eggs
½ c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 ½ c. flour
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
Mix together melted butter, hot water, and cocoa. Set aside.
Cream eggs, milk, and vanilla together. Add to cocoa mixture. Sift together flour, sugar, salt, and soda. Add to mixture and beat well. Pour into a greased jelly roll pan. Bake at 350° F for 25 minutes.
Frosting:
¾ c. butter, softened
6 Tbsp. milk
3 Tbsp. cocoa
1lb powdered sugar
Mix ingredients together. Frost cake while warm.

I am over from Blessed with Grace and had to ck out your Texas cake…Since I am a Texas girl (if you can call a 73 yr. old a girl) and I LOVE CHOCOLATE CAKE.
)
My Texas recipe is just about the same, I think…let’s see, I do add cinnamon, buttermilk,..the rest is about the same. My icing is to be put on while the cake is still hot….OMGosh, now I am DYING for a piece.
This is the first I’ve known of your meme. I will surely be linking with you…I do a lot of cooking.
I am your newest follower…hope you will come over for a visit.
