Becoming Healthy

Jan 20th, 2010 | By Sharee Anne | Category: Health & Fitness

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about how I want to be a healthier individual for myself and my children. How wonderful it would be to have more energy! There is so much I want to accomplish. So, I’ve decided I’m going to incorporate a new healthy habit each month.

I’m starting with drinking enough water for my body each day. I’ve thought a lot about what I could write that would get readers to drink more water with me, but as I’ve researched all the facts out there I came to a conclusion – why would a list of facts get anyone to drink more water, when there are scary facts all over about why people should stop smoking or drinking and they don’t.

It is not the facts that get me to drink water, it is the way it makes me feel. That headache that I thought was just part of being alive, well its because I don’t drink enough water. That need to eat again just after a meal is really just my body needing water (fewer calories = weight loss) and that lack of energy may just be my body needing some water. I don’t think I knew how dehydrated I was and how not drinking water was affecting me until I started drinking enough and realized how much better I felt.

I’ve found that having a water bottle handy has helped me to keep myself hydrated. I usually fill my 32oz water bottle two to three times a day and it keeps me feeling great. I know there are formulas to figure out exactly how much to drink or there is the standard 8 glasses a day you often hear. I think it depends on your body and what you are doing. What makes you feel good? Really listen to your body and figure out what it is saying.

I’d like to hear how you make sure you drink enough water each day. Please share.
