Moving & Making a Difference

Posted on August 6, 2016 by Kevin HarrisNovember 23, 2016

For the past year or two we have watched as many of the things we felt like we accomplished in our little town slip back to the way they were before we came. Everyone wants to feel like they have made a difference and when we first moved here we had many opportunities to help in many areas: business alliances, youth programs, grants, helping the needy, and even starting holiday … Continue reading →

I dreamed that I returned to the home that I grew up in, and was surprised to see that the tree swing on the side of the house was still there. Now, I’m pretty sure it was taken down years ago, but in my dream it was still there. The swing hung by a single yellow rope that passed through a hole on each end of a 2 x 4 … Continue reading →

Interactive Kids Chore Chart

Chore chart

I came across an awesome chore chart at Confessions of a Homeschooler that I would highly recommend checking out. You can download the chore chart cards for FREE! She also lets you know where you can get the pocket chart. I’ve bookmarked it for future use. The system we are currently using with gems is working great at the moment, but as I’ve learned over and over again: what works … Continue reading →

Winter the Norwegian Way

Winter the Norwegian Way

Does winter just fill you with dread? Do you count the days until spring? I do! I’ve struggled with the cold weather winter brings for as long as I can remember, but this year has been so much worse. I normally love the beautiful fall weather, but when the leaves started to turn to bright orange, red, and yellow and everyone around me was talking about their beauty, I couldn’t … Continue reading →

The Perfect Job – Part 3

Posted on January 25, 2015 by Sharee HarrisJanuary 25, 2016

(Read Part 1 and Part 2) I applied for Medicaid for me and the children. We qualified. I felt worse and worse. I could no longer work multiple jobs, my body could no longer handle the 60-70 hours a week. I cut back my hours and prayed we would be able to make it. I continued to look for why God had cut me down. What was this great thing … Continue reading →

The Perfect Job – Part 2

Posted on January 18, 2015 by Sharee HarrisJanuary 25, 2016

(Read Part 1 here) Tears flowed freely as I drove home and continued into the night. My heart was broken. The next morning I called my old job. They hadn’t even posted the position and I was trying to help them get by until they figured it out. They were grateful I could just keep things running and said they would get back to me about my job. They didn’t … Continue reading →

The Perfect Job – Part 1

Posted on January 12, 2015 by Sharee HarrisJanuary 15, 2017
The Perfect Job - A true story

I enjoyed my work most days——it was rewarding to help individuals or families in need. The only problem was that I was helping them improve their situation and become self-reliant, but I myself was struggling to care for my own family. I was working multiple jobs: teaching fitness classes early in the morning, helping families in need during the day, and running a movie theater with my husband in the … Continue reading →
